Low Maintenance Buffalo Turf in Central Coast

  • Palmetto is regarded by all lawn experts as the best Buffalo Turf in Australia due to it's high quality and low maintenance properties. Palmetto Buffalo Grass is a beautiful soft, yet tough buffalo and is the LOWEST maintenance buffalo available. Palmetto turf provides a lawn grass that has excellent winter colour, and can generally out compete weeds once established.
  • Palmetto Buffalo Grass requires less watering once established and less mowing than other turf varieties.
  • Palmetto has the best winter colour out of all buffalo varieties, but keep in mind no lawn will look as lush and green during the winter time as it does in spring.
  • Palmetto is the most environmentally friendly Buffalo grass, requiring less mowing, less edging and less thatch control, all due to it's slower and differing growth rate over it's competitors, as well as having low seeding levels. And for these reasons, this makes Palmetto the best soft leaf Buffalo grass for people who desire a low maintenance Buffalo lawn.
  • Under even many frosts and the odd heavy frost, only the tips of leaf burns on Palmetto. A light mow removes most of the burn making the lawn instantly greener.
  • Palmetto generally requires less fertiliser than other lawn varieties, once early april with a slow release fertiliser and then again in September with a Shirleys #17 or similar to give it a boost coming out of winter.
  • To improve general health of Buffalo, lightly top dress the lawn every two or three years in October with a quality top-soil such as Nitrotop or a sandy loam mix.
  • Palmetto has very good tolerance to weed sprays which contain the active ingredients of either Bromoxynil or MCPA.
